About

Hello and welcome to nadamobile.com! I’m Patrick Jones, the face and voice behind this site. If you’ve found your way here, thanks for dropping by I’m really glad you’re here. Let me share a little about how I arrived at this space, what I care about, and how this blog came to life.

My background & tech roots

Before turning full-time to writing product reviews, I worked for nearly a decade in the mobile-telecom industry. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Glasgow, I landed a role at a mid-sized smartphone distributor based in Edinburgh.

I spent years working behind the scenes: testing new handsets, monitoring supply-chain issues, working with accessory manufacturers, travelling to trade shows, and helping convert technical specs into simple customer packaging. I learned more than I ever expected about why phones lag, why chargers overheat, and why accessories so often under-deliver.

Living in Edinburgh for much of that time, I found the fast-moving mobile-device world thrilling but also, over time, a bit exhausting. After the birth of my daughter and a move to the Scottish Highlands for a slower pace, I began to reflect on how much of what people buy in tech is driven by marketing, hype and noise rather than actual value or real-world usage.

Why I started Nada Mobile

In early 2025 I made a decision: if I was going to keep working in this space, I wanted to do it on my own terms. That meant putting honesty over hype, real-life results over polished fluff, and practical buying advice ahead of flashy launch-events. That’s when I relaunched the domain nadamobile.com which, historically, had hosted mobile-tech news and rumors and shifted it into something I believe the average buyer actually needs: reviews you can trust, written by someone who still remembers what it’s like to wait for a firmware patch, as well as what it’s like to simply want a device that works on a Tuesday morning.

From that point forward I began dedicating the blog to real-world usage: longer test periods, using products in everyday life (and real homes), and breaking down whether things deliver their promises. My hope is that you’ll walk away from each review knowing not just what the spec-sheet says but how that spec translates into your life.

What I bring to the table

Because of my background in both engineering and hands-on product distribution, I tend to look at things a little differently. I care about heat management, battery behavior, software updates, accessory ecosystem, and how durable a device truly is not just how pretty it looks in a showroom. I also bring a global lens: whether you’re in Dhaka, Dubai, London or Lima, many of the issues are the same (charging patterns, usability in high-heat zones, accessory compatibility), and I try to address those.

What you’ll find here: honest verdicts, clear explanations (without the jargon overload), and tips like “what to check the *day you get it home” or “how this accessory performs six weeks in”. I want you to feel confident that if I recommend something, it’s because I believe it has value not just because it has the flashiest marketing.

My lifestyle & where I’m writing from

These days I’m based just outside Aviemore, up in the Scottish Highlands. My work-bench is next to a large window that looks out onto pine forest and a loch in the distance. I often test devices out on the move: whether I’m hiking in Glen Coul, on a ferry across Loch Ness, or simply commuting to the nearby village café with my daughter and her tablet in tow. I believe that how a device behaves in “real life” matters more than how it looks in a lab.

When I’m not reviewing devices, you’ll find me tinkering with portable power banks in my shed-workshop, trying to live more simply (minimal clutter), and hunting down the best coffee beans I can source locally. I bring that same curiosity to this blog: finding what works, what doesn’t, and sharing both.

What this site is and what it isn’t

nadamobile.com is not a gimmick-site filled with press releases and “top 10” lists you’ll forget tomorrow. It’s a place where I aim to bring substance. I’m an Amazon Affiliate (if you’ll see disclosure elsewhere on the site), so yes, some links lead to purchase options but I promise my first goal is your trust. I’ll tell you when something underperforms, when it’s overpriced, and when the “budget option” is the smarter move.

If you’re here because you’re thinking “Should I buy this phone? This gadget? This accessory?”, then I hope you’ll find the answer you need, along with a little perspective. Thanks for reading. I’m glad you’re here and I hope we make some good buying decisions together.
